We recently held the September Board meeting, and things are looking up! First off, congratulations to Henkel’s Elaine Kunkle, who has been formally elected Vice Chairperson of the GICC Board of Trustees.
We also heard from our sub-committees, who have shown the Board their plans for the rest of 2017. These include:
A forum on Developing Global Filipino Talent
A collection of best practices on Continuous Improvement
A library of Business Continuity resources
All of these we can all use and bring home to our respective organizations.
Looking forward to the next General Membership Meetings (GMM):
The very next one is on Wednesday, October 18, 9-11 am; the invite has already been sent to our primary representatives. This GMM will be hosted by Northern Trust. Among others, we plan to feature speakers on the proposed compressed four-day work week, as well as an update on the data privacy requirements. Of course, we will have a couple of member companies share “What’s New” with them.
We hope you can also save the date for our yearend GMM, on Friday, December 8.
In January, the Board will have a planning session to revisit roles, responsibilities, and to map out 2018 activities for GICC as well as the sub-committees. Please send us your feedback/suggestions for focus areas to maximize the planning session. We intend to do this regularly to ensure that our members continue to get the best out of GICC.
I’ll close with a report on GICC’s participation in Hands On Manila’s Servathon 2017, held Saturday, September 23rd. This year’s activity was assembling relief kits for the thousands of Filipinos driven from their homes by unrest in Marawi. About 40 Manila companies, including several GICC members, participated financially and through their volunteers. It was tiring yet satisfying, and I was filled with pride seeing so many GICC members’ employees and principals in the crowd. Check back next week for our Servathon photo gallery with more participating companies.
As knowledge professionals, we get things done by putting our heads together. But sometimes hands and heart can contribute as well.
That’s all I have for now. See you on October 18!
