Thank you all for making Wednesday's GMM a full house! Hosted by Northern Trust, it was a very productive hour-and-a-half. Some of the highlights:
Updates from the Business Continuity Plan subcommittee – If your company is one of the 20+ members who have not yet nominated their committee representative, please do so. Please also connect us to the marketing or communications contact in your organization for content, information and photos;
What's New at the facilities of Northern Trust and Johnson & Johnson;
Guide to late registration for the Data Privacy Act, courtesy of Wells Fargo's Atty. Eric Vera;
Industry situationer and Philippine competitiveness – On behalf of IBPAP, Sutherland's Cathy Ileto updated us on key issues for the industry and the technical working groups collaborating with government to address them. One such working group, on which two of your GICC board members sit, has helped draft a new national narrative for Philippine outsourcing, to be launched at the International IT-BPM Summit on November 7. The Summit itself has an outstanding program this year. To attend at a significant IBPAP members' discount, either with a table for your company or sharing with other GICC members, please contact us by 12 nn on Friday, Oct 27.
Our first "#shoutout" open forum was also revealing. Rather than respond individually to emailed questions, we opened them to the group for instant, more varied responses that we can all learn from. Some of the spontaneous questions:
Updates on the tax incentive measures now heading into bicameral reading;
Restrictions on employee mobility that some members have encountered;
New continuing education requirements for CPAs; and even
Working with smoking bans — national or municipal.
Just a sign that there's always more to learn about the industry we work in every day. Exciting times ahead!
Again, thank you all. See you November 7 at the Summit, and on December 8 for the GICC yearend celebration.
