Hello GICC members.
Thank you all for a highly productive discussion last week at our Fellowship. Thank you Ernst & Young for taking care of the venue, the sumptuous breakfast, the walk-around in your new office and for volunteering to set up our new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Sub-Committee.
We had an informative and lengthy discussion on the Philippine Competition Act (PCA) or Republic Act (RA) 10667, which is the Philippines’ primary competition policy that promotes and protects its
competitive market. We took notes from Atty Charles Veloso of Quisumbing Torres as well as from
member companies who shared their experiences on implementing this law.
Our Sub-Committees also presented their plans for the year. I was happy and excited to see activities
coming from Quality and Continuous Improvement (Q&CI) as they work towards influencing the academe so that skills needed for our type of work match those taught in schools. I look forward, as well, to projects from Business Continuity (BCP) as they help our companies become more educated around and engaged in BCP.
Our next Fellowship will see the plans and programs that the Human Resources (HR) Sub-Committee
and the newly minted CSR Sub-Committee have in store for us. There was also a suggestion in the room for a Facilities Management Sub-Committee and the Board of Trustees promised to look into it.
We will be scheduling the next Fellowship soon. On this note, however, I would like to bring up our Fellowship membership attendance. We have just over 75 member companies and when we sent the May 8 Fellowship invitation, 55 confirmed. Sadly, on the day itself only 35 of the 55 companies were represented, a 64% attendance rate.
I hope that we may have better turnout at our next Fellowship. The Board and EMT strive to make an interesting and valuable Fellowship for all of you. At the very least, let us all work towards 100% attendance of those who confirm their attendance as our host makes plans based on the numbers confirmed.
See you again soon!
